It's almost time for the last day of camp...but that's tomorrow!

Tonight, Kristen asked us how we used our hands today. Hear are the stories that were shared:

The construction workers, library workers, and gardeners went to the Pillow Thompson House for lunch where the local youth were learning how to serve. So the workers were served lunch by the youth who learned how to set a table correctly as well as having good manners. :)

Maggie and Kate had a story about Jasmine (the lifeguard) saying that they should pray for the sun to come out because of the overcast and everyone had apparently been wishing for it all day. Jasmine prayed a well spoken prayer that was wonderful! Later, the sun actually did come out! Crazy how God works.

Elsie as well as everyone loved adult swimming tonight. She had been one of the people who came to Helena a few years ago and then came back this year. Elsie says it is a major tranformation! The pool is for the community of Helena-West Helena to have a "normal day" at the pool. There is a picnic area under the pavilion where people can have family picnics, food fights, or a pool party!

I (Rachel) have an experience where I used my hands. I have been working with a girl named Brittany who is 13 years old in adult swimming. At first she could do the free style..minus the arms and the breathing. Her kicking was very strong. During these 2 days (yesterday didn't happen because of the rain), she has progressed very well. I got her doing the breast stroke (or the frog), free style (with the noodle), and the back stoke (which she learned today!). I told her when we were done tonight that she had to show her mom before she forgets. :P She was such a sweet girl and I know she wanted to learn. She told me to talk to Kate so she could tell her swim teacher from last week the progress Brittany is making. I bet she'll be a fabulous swimmer one day. She just excited me and made me want to stay there to keep helping her get better and better.

Today at the pool Beth took the preschoolers to the 4ft section of the pool and they got to jump into the pool.  However, they were scared of going that deep, but of course Beth and Kate and a couple of other teachers were there to catch them.  Beth felt like she was needed and she got emotional about it because she said she wanted to feel that way.  So it was a special day for her in the pool.

It was our last night teaching adult swimming and a lot of the ones there got to jump off the diving board for the first time!  You could tell they were scared but they loved it as soon as they jumped in!  It was sad that there were only 2 days (well 3 for some people) of adult swimming lessons, but you can defintely tell the differences already!

Tomorrow is our last day of kids camp.  Hopefully the sun will be out to help warm up the day a little bit (never thought I'd be asking for it to be hotter in Helena-West Helena!).  We get to hand out bibles to the kids and that will be great for them to have that to use in coming years!
