Today was our second day at kids camp. For some, it was their worst day, but for others it was their best day! It's crazy how it works.
For a major high today, it is George and Vivian Hughes 53th wedding anniversary. They were so cute. At the end of the meeting Mark and Ginny decided to kiss (they've only been married one year). So, Vivian decided to call George over and give him a big smooch in front of everyone! SO CUTE!!! I (Rachel) want me and my hubby to be to be like that at that age.
(oh and ps- happy anniversary to my (Virginia) mom and dad!)
So at todays meeting, Kristen told us to share where we saw hope today. Everyone started saying, "Well, I saw her at 9am and then 10, and then I saw her for lunch." They were all talking about Mrs. Hope Long. Tee hee. :)
Cindy Douglass shared that her friend that she has been seeing brought her a lunch today. Even though her friend does not have a car or the money to actually provide it, she brought her a lunch. She also spent some time with her today. It's touching how you can grow with people throughout the years and still keep in touch.
Jennifer was saying how there was a young boy in preschool who did not behave very well yesterday. They were having some problems with him crying and taking things from others. Then today came and he was a totally different boy! He was such a sweetie!
Hey guys! It's Courtney Wilson! I'm just taking over for a little bit while Rachel and Virginia are resting a bit from this exhausting day. But anyways..
Beth Sprinkle was sharing with the group that during her swim lessons with the preschoolers, they were being a bit too energetic! Beth and Kate were trying to play ring around the rosie in the shallow end with the kids but they were having fun splashing them and their classmates. So Kate suggested they split up into two separate groups. Beth gathered up half the kids and only turned away for a few seconds to check on something and when she turned back around the kids had along grabbed each others hands and were playing by themselves! How cute!
Mary Alice was telling how rambunctious and energetic her group was today..and I can back her up on that, Mary Alice, Brenda (my mom), and myself are all groupleaders together. But today at bible story was rough! Kids were all over the place, messing with the props Mrs. Cindy brought in, climbing over each other, jumping up and down, whining about wanting to go to the pool, so on and so on...but in the midst of all this Mary Alice spotted a brother and sister, twins actually, and they were sitting quielty together on the tarp. The sister, Antoneshia, was resting her head on her brothers shoulder while listening to the bible story. Aww!..
It rained here today and we got through half the day at camp without having to move the kids. But right after lunch it started thundering, so we had to move the kids to the community center to finish off the day. It was a blessing that we made it through at least one swim rotation because that is definitely the kids favorite part of the day! It kept raining off and on (ok, mostly on) the rest of the day and by the time adult swim lessons came around, it was still raining but at least it had stopped thundering. Only a few women (no men showed up...lame! :) ) showed up and Maggie was so happy that her "student" was doing so well even though it was raining and it should have been a downer. But all the women were working hard and it was fun to watch!
The kids seemed to do very well today while at the community center. It was very well organized so it was easy for the kids to adjust to the new location. Brenda and Ginny both thought that the kids were great while playing games in the community center.
Tomorrow Mark has promised to try to fix one of the interns car windows. It has been broken for about 2 months now and it was not very fun for her today with all the rain! Mark also tried to fix another broken car window today in the rain but it turned out that it was just the passenger window button that was broken instead of the window itself! All of that hard work in the rain for just a silly button! But it was great that he could help a local fix the window!
Well, it's time for bed because we are all EXHAUSTED. But of course it's a good exhausted :)
