Rev. Julia Ledford’s passion is for discipleship development—helping persons grow in a true relationship with Christ. She enjoys working with the church to provide new programs and opportunities for spiritual and personal growth for people of all ages. She relates her calling to the temple assistants in Israelite history, who served as ‘doorkeepers in the house of the Lord’—assisting persons as they sought to participate in various aspects of the life of the congregation. Her great desire is to help the church be the body of Christ in the community by providing an environment in which persons “Come, Learn, Grow, and Serve.”
Julia has had a varied background in church leadership, first as a layperson and later in formal ministry. She holds the degree of Master of Arts in Christian Education from Campbell University Divinity School and the Associate of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Her undergraduate studies were at Barton College and Campbell University, from which she earned the Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Christian Ministries. Business school and insurance work experience as a young adult honed her natural organizational and administrative skills.
She likes new ideas and change! As one who enjoys ‘trail-blazing,’ she is happiest when she is planning and implementing new Christian discipleship development opportunities. She seeks to plan and organize effectively to help church leaders and volunteers experience success in serving the Lord together. Julia is a typical ‘over achiever’ who pours herself into her work. When she does take time out for personal interests, she enjoys decorating, remodeling, gardening, reading, cooking, walking, and swimming.
The most important relationship in life for her is with Jesus, and with those whom He has given to her to love—her family, friends, and members of His Church. Julia and her husband, Joe, are the parents of two children. Their son Michael, and his wife Vicki, live and work in the area. Julia and Joe also have a daughter, Teresa, who lives and works in Milwaukee. They all love the times they can be together at Christmas and for family vacations—especially at the beach! In fact, if there is any place other than church and home that she enjoys being, it’s the beach! Julia and Joe are enjoying the new adventure of being grandparents with Brittany and Madisyn. They praise God for their new grandson, Gavin, who is a special joy in their family, delighting them with each new step of growth and development.
